Description

This Ingenious Autofire multipoint door lock features 4 Autolatches.

Identifying an Ingenious Autofire multipoint door lock is relatively straightforward, but there are a few pitfalls. If your lock is still in the door, it’ll likely have the brand stamped on the faceplate. Some models also have the Secured By Design logo stamped on the faceplate too. Autofire locks are almost always fitted to timber or composite doors.

Ingenious Autofire multipoint door locks feature deadlatches with an actuator. As the door closes, the actuator connects with the keep and the deadlatch is thrown, automatically.

We’d always recommend removing the multipoint from the door to help identify it. This is especially important if you can’t identify the brand from the faceplate or it has been rebranded.

Autofire locks are available as a standard configuration, with the main gearbox in the middle of the lock (at 833mm from the bottom of the strip), or as a Heritage version. The Autofire Heritage lock has the main gearbox higher up the strip (1183mm from the bottom), in the location that a traditional Yale night latch would be placed on a wooden door. This allows multipoint locking with a more traditional aesthetic. We have also see upgrades to existing doors where the heritage lock is used to replace an existing night latch and mortice lock configuration on timber doors.

Ingenious Autofire central gearboxes are unique and they feature no latch, hook or deadbolt. They still have a spindle hole and euro cut out, but the main gearbox does not have any locking points on an Ingenious Autofire lock.

The centres are 92mm and, unlike a regular Ingenious gearbox, the Autofire lock has a single spindle. It also differs in shape as the corner is not cut out.

Operation: Automatic Locking

To lock the door

1. On closing the door, the latch and locking points are automatically engaged as the triggers on the door connect with the keeps on the frame.

2. Turn the key to deadlock the mechanism.

To unlock the door

1. Turn the key to unlock the mechanism.

2. If you have a lever, push the lever down to retract the locking points. Alternatively, a further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch to open the door.
