This is a genuine replacement hook bolt gearbox for Safeware multipoint door locks. This gearbox is available with a 35mm backset, features a latch and hook bolt, and is unsprung.

Safeware gearboxes are visually very similar to the Lockmaster range of locks. They feature a central hook (a deadbolt version is not available) that throws downwards. These gearboxes are available in a double spindle operation only, with 92mm and 62mm centres (PZ) measurements.

Safeware gearboxes are the largest on the market. They measure 255mm high by 50mm wide. The latch measures 30mm high, as does the hook and there is 80mm between the bottom of the latch and the top of the hook.

As the gearboxes are so long, they fix to their faceplates with 4 screws. The top to next screw measures 55mm, the next screw is 80mm and the 3rd to last screw measures 108mm.

Operation: Lift Lever or Double spindle

Latch reversal: Undo the screw in the latch to remove. Reverse and reinsert then replace the screw.

Note: This is almost identical in style to a Lockmaster case and is often confused.  Lockmaster case height is 228mm while Safeware is 255mm.
